MGM's "Windtalkers" To Premiere in SW Asia. DALLAS -- The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), in cooperation with Metro Goldwyn Mayer Motion Picture Studios, has arranged for a special premiere screening of the soon-to-be-released motion picture "Windtalkers" for service members stationed in SW Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. MGM has agreed to provide AAFES video tapes of the highly publicized WWII drama starring Nicholas Cage. The movie will be shown to troops deployed to SW Asia on Friday, June 14, the same day it opens in theaters throughout the U.S. As an added bonus, the film's stars, Nicholas Cage, Adam Beach and director John Woo have produced a "Thank You" spot in support of the troops that will be seen at the beginning of the each video tape. "The fact that these personalities took the time and effort to send a personal message to the troops makes these screenings that much more special," said Richard Sheff, Vice President of AAFES' Food and Theater Division. In recent months, service members stationed in SW Asia and the Balkans have been able to view such major motion pictures as "Black Hawk Down," "We Were Soldiers," "Hart's War," "The Rookie," "Behind Enemy Lines," and "The Sum of All Fears." Movie icon Arnold Schwarzenegger even made a special effort to join the troops at Eagle Base, (Tuzla) Bosnia, to view his latest film "Collateral Damage."
